Boiler Replacement and Radiator Installation in Tunbridge Wells

APV Heating Services were initially called out to a property in Tunbridge Wells to carry out a service on an Ideal Classic heat-only boiler. The boiler was around 30 years old, so while it had certainly provided many years of service, it was beginning to show its age.

The Challenge

During the boiler service, we discovered that a rubber hose connected to the flue had broken. We informed the customer and recommended that the hose was replaced, which we were able to carry out.

However, finding replacement parts for a boiler of this age was becoming increasingly difficult. With the Ideal Classic now around 30 years old, the customer decided that rather than continue repairing an ageing appliance, it was probably time to consider a new boiler.

APV Heating Services provided a competitive quotation for the replacement, which the customer was happy to accept.

Our Solution

Because the existing Ideal Classic had its flue terminating from the rear of the boiler, rather than from the top, we recommended a Vaillant heat-only boiler as the ideal replacement.

One of the advantages of the Vaillant heat-only range is the flexibility of being able to terminate the flue either from the top or the rear of the boiler. This made it possible to replace the old boiler while keeping the existing flue arrangement practical and avoiding unnecessary alterations.

The customer also took the opportunity to upgrade the radiator in the hallway. The customer supplied and APV installed a new tall radiator, completing both the boiler and radiator installation on the same day.

The Result

The old 30-year-old Ideal Classic was replaced with a modern Vaillant heat-only boiler, providing the customer with a more reliable and up-to-date heating system.

The new hallway radiator also gave the property a fresh new look while improving the heating in the entrance area.

The customer was very pleased with both the workmanship and the finished installation.
