Vaillant Heat-Only Boiler Replacement in Pembury

We recently completed a boiler replacement for a customer in Pembury whose existing back boiler, located behind the fireplace, was no longer providing reliable heating or hot water. As a modern replacement needed a new location, we installed a Vaillant ecoFIT pure heat-only boiler in the downstairs WC, retained the existing hot water cylinder and upgraded the central heating pump, programmer and room thermostat.

The Challenge

The customer contacted us because their existing back boiler wasn't working properly and they were struggling to get heating or hot water.

The photographs show the old Baxi back boiler installation behind the fireplace. With the boiler needing replacement, a key part of the job was deciding where the new boiler could be installed.

After discussing the options with the customer, we agreed that the downstairs WC was the most practical location. It provided a suitable position in relation to the existing heating system, gas supply and the new condensate pipework.

The existing system used a heat-only boiler with a separate hot water cylinder. There was no need to replace the cylinder, so the plan was to retain it and connect the new boiler into the existing heating and hot water arrangement.

The Solution

We removed the old Baxi back boiler from behind the fireplace. The photographs provide a useful before-and-after record, showing both the old boiler after removal and the empty fireplace once the boiler had been taken out.

We then installed a new Vaillant ecoFIT pure heat-only boiler in the downstairs WC. This can now be confirmed from the photographs, which clearly show the Vaillant ecoFIT pure branding on the new boiler.

Relocating the boiler required new and adapted pipework to connect the downstairs WC installation back into the existing system. Some of the photographs show the pipework running through the property as part of this work.

We also replaced the existing central heating pump. The before-and-after photographs show the older Wilo circulator and the new replacement pump installed within the existing pipework.

As part of the boiler replacement, the customer decided it was a good opportunity to update the heating controls too. The old ACL Lifestyle LP112 programmer and Drayton room thermostat were replaced with new Honeywell Home controls, including a new programmer for heating and hot water and a new room thermostat.

Once the new boiler, pump, pipework and controls had been installed and connected, we commissioned the system and checked that the heating and hot water were operating correctly.

The Result

The customer now has reliable heating and hot water again, with the old back boiler removed from behind the fireplace and a new Vaillant ecoFIT pure heat-only boiler installed in the downstairs WC.

The existing hot water cylinder has been retained, while the new boiler, central heating pump, Honeywell Home programmer and room thermostat have updated several important parts of the original heating system.

Most importantly, both the heating and hot water are now working properly again. With the work completed ahead of the colder weather, the customer has a fully operational heating system ready for winter.
